Do Kyo

"Do" in this sense refers to the "Tao" while "kyo" means "teachings". Do-kyo in the do-jo can only occur when the practice includes the gokui of the art. It is comprised of the concept of etiquette, respect, and a devotion to tradition and learning.

These are the "ideals" that are applied to the performance of the physical art of karate, evolving it into something more (as is with any practice where intent is to evolve beyond the mere doing of something into a something that becomes an "art"). It is the individuals investigation of the universal by the means of the singular/particular; a central concept in all the "ways".
